In what I consider a not too well though out idea, Beyoncé banned pro photographers from her concerts. According to FStoppers this was done to avoid unflattering images, like those that appeared after the Superbowl.
Her and her publicist want to make sure no future photos make it to the mainstream media. The funny thing is the media seems to have purchased the uncomplimentary, low quality images from her fans.
What the Beyoncé camp is doing though is providing 3-5 preapproved images, taken by their own photographer for the media to consume after each show. This is their form of image control. However, in this day of increasing video quality, it’s sooooo easy to pull a screen grab, fire up Photoshop and have fun.
For example, Doctor Who fans, on Tumblr seem to get edited images gifs files up almost 5 minutes after a scene at times. If people want an image up on the web today, they will have them up. The more you restrict them the more unflattering the images will be. Also Cell Phones cameras are getting better and better, and when thousands of people are taking photos, you are bound to get a few good ones.
Beyonce generally bans photographers from her concerts. I know she did on the last tour where they were only welcomed to take pictures for the first few songs.
Please, there are no pro photographers banned from her tour. And even if they were, what does that have to do with unflattering pics? Her flattering AND unflattering pics make the tour of web every time, that would just be more promo for teh tour.
You mean a woman who looks like giving 110% of effort on stage instead of someone who walks around on stage doing nothing then cancelling dates because of an imaginary illness...
