The inherent narcissism of Bieber's direct quote is tempered a bit by your paraphrasing, Will. "Hope" and "wonder" are very distinct terms that probably shouldn't be used interchangeably. And ultimately, whether Justin "wonders" or "hopes" Anne Frank would have been a fan, his decision to reference his own stardom in that guestbook entry still speaks to his self-absorption.
But I do love this idea that because Justin avoided various temptations while in Amsterdam, we should feel compelled to ignore his social faux pas. Like, um, is it too much to expect Justin to be both well-behaved and humble?
