^He has a point about the idea of "BET" being a racist name (kind of). I mean White Entertainment Television would be shutdown before it could ever see the light of day, however, all the other networks are pretty much WET, they're just not called that. So BET was a good place for blacks to grow in entertainment.
Even so, it's owned by whites now so make what you will of that.
Aside from the incredibly disappointing Britney performance, the whole VMA's this year sucked. I don't know why MTV thought it would be a good idea to have people performing in different venues all over the place but it made for a really unentertaining, bland experience for viewers...I prefer a more traditional format. They cut too many award categories and tried to fit too many performances which just made for a poorly organized evening. Also, there wasn't much of a variety in categories, or nominees, or even artists at the awards for that matter. Everything sounded as if Timbaland shat all over it. It blows my mind that JT thinks this is a good era in music when ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING sounds lthe same because of Timbo. But at least JT pleaded with MTV to show more videos, good for him!!!! Congrats to Dre too. The whole evening basically seemed like one big party for the celebrities. Hey MTV, what happened to the fans? oh yeah, we weren't invited. Don't forget who made you who you are!
^To me MTV award shows always sucked though. Why are you guys shocked this one sucked when all the rest did. It's like they're REALLY good at promotion for their shows, but when its time to deliver, they fail.
The Lack Of Variety in the categories and The Performers at different venues was certainly messed up to me.there were kayne performing at these party lets show him and we have fall out boy performing at the part of venue lets show part of there performance.I hated the different artist where the performers were perform at.it was annoying.i can't think of one performance that stood out well maybe alicia keys performance and now that was great performance by her and whatever happened to the "suprise" guest they used to deliver.like GNR in 2002.Madonna in 2003.etc.btw unpopular opinion i did not like the ending with nelly furtado,timbaland,and justin timberlake.THAT was THE SUPRISE Of The Evening?Give me a break?i thought they would have like michael jackson came out and perform with justin timberlake,nelly,and timbaland.the ending of the vmas was lame. although we saw shades of mj in chris browns performance.i probably rambled too much.the vmas were just plain boring in laymans terms.
btw whatever happened to the unpredictablity of the vmas?
Winners - Rihanna, Beyonce/Shakira and Justin's wins were well-deserved, but Gym Class Heroes should NOT have won Best New Artist. I would have been fine with Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen or Carrie Underwood, but GCH just aren't that talented or innovative.

Those Britney fans always bounce back lol. I'd give it about 2 days before they find another reason to praise her again and ignore the VMAs like the Star Wars fans ignores Jar Jar Binks' existence.
