Selena Gomez Channels Britney Spears & Puts The Past & Present Together In Zunies Performance

Selena Gomez got off the stage not long ago at the Zunie awards and covered Britney Spears and performed her single "The Last Time". The performance opened with an old school Jazz cymbal beat playing. The lights fade in and Selena appears at the top of a staircase. As she walks down the stairs, the official beat sets in. She starts to sing a very cabaret version of Spears' 1998 hit, ...Baby One More Time. It's very 1920's club-esque. When BOMT ends. Selena takes her hair down from a ponytail, pulls her skirt off to reveal tight leather shorts and the beat goes into "The Last Time". Selena performs the first verse and chorus choreo center stage all alone. The choreo involves a lot of... um self touching. Then for the second chorus she dives to the floor and ends up on her knees. She's now joined by her dancers. This section of the choreo features a lot of hairflips. She, a male and a female dancer then get up go into the audience and grab Selena's pal Justin Bieber. The dancers tie him up and Selena is basically walking him on a leash made from rope. When they get on the stage, Selena pushes him into this on-stage seat and she's dancing seductively on him. His hands are still tied so he can't participate. Selena then climbs on the ladder behind the seat and ends the performance with her legs on his shoulders. The seat (with Justin & Selena still on it) gets pulled backstage by dancers.


We caught up with Selena and asked her why she covered Baby One More Time. "You know I was just listening too it one day and I realized the theme of song is similar to the theme of my song.
