Gaga and Troy have had a plan to start their own recording company for a while - or at least something of that sort.
Of course not until her album contract expires with Interscope. I am going to assume that's what is referred to in this article.

Wondered how long it'd take her/them to do that. Figured it'd be later rather than sooner, though. How long till her contract ends?

I could be wrong but I think ARTPOP is the last album she's contracted with Interscope? I doubt Interscope would let Gaga go, especially since she's brought so much to them.

I doubt she'd bail on Interscope, either. Could she create her own label with Troy under the umbrella of Interscope so she'd have the same team (with Jimmy Iovine) but more control? I'm not sure how these things work, but I imagine she'd be able to sign new artists to her label and use her good standing with interscope to help things out as the parent label?

Was her Interscope contract for 4 or 5 albums? And would the EP count toward that?

Didn't Bjork do something similar with an interactive app for one of her albums?

I don't think more control is something Gaga needs right now.
