Jessie J's "Domino" named most-played song of 2012
Quote:
Jessie J's 'Domino' was the most-played song of 2012, according to new figures. The singer's track - which hit the top spot in the UK singles chart in January 2012 - was played more than Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and Emeli Sandé's 'Next To Me'.
Music royalties company PPL released the statistics, which take into account radio play, TV performances and plays in public venues like pubs and shops.
'Domino' was released at the end of 2011 but took some weeks to climb the charts before spending two weeks at number one. It charted at number eight in the end of year chart.
Maroon 5's summer 2011 collaboration with Christina Aguilera 'Moves Like Jagger' was the fourth most-played track of the year, with David Guetta and Sia's 'Titanium' completing the top five.
Seven of the top ten were UK number one singles during 2011 and 2012. Tracks by Emeli Sandé and Maroon 5 were top five hits with Kelly Clarkson's 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' finding itself in the year's top ten despite only charting at number eight.
Jonathan Morrish of PPL commented: "The top ten most-played pop songs is always an impressive insight into what the nation has been listening to the previous year. These songs will undoubtedly stay with us for a long time."

They announced this back in like January. It's not surprising really, since Capital FM played the song every 3 hours for the entire year.
I live in the UK, I find it so weird when people on this forum talk about Jessie J as if she is a flop or irrelevent. She's had 2 big hits in the US, and multiple other hits worldwide.
