I love Kylie and I'm so hyped for this project, but I'm concerned this will just be another throwaway collection of pop songs for her, produced by a collection of "who's hot now" producers to give us something as scattered as
X but without all the color and heart that made it a fan favourite.
Maybe it makes no sense to be worried so soon, but in her entire career I feel she never really found her voice. She served us some really interesting and thoughtful tracks in the late 90s with
Impossible Princess but she's since back-pedaled ever since and seemed content to just give frothy, glittery effervescent dance-pop. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I just feel she should be above what most of the younger or newer girls who haven't sussed out their brand/image/voice are doing to secure relevance in the spotty pop landscape.
Then again this is her first album for RocNation and yes
another chance to break into the western market. So chances are it'll be less about what Kylie wants to say or express (if anything at all) and more about her needing 12-16 viable hits on this record.
