Who cares? They were ignorant enough to celebrate the death of someone in public, also ignorant of what the hell her family were going through and what they were doing to anyone close to Margaret.
The song deserves to be withheld from re-entering the charts at all since it's only doing it due mostly to pathetic bandwagoners.

Did Margaret care about the children she was taking milk from? Did Margaret care about the thousands of people Pinochet killed in Chile when she supported him? Did Margaret care about the millions of familys she economically ruined with her government? No? Then the public doesn't need to care about her familys' feelings. She was a bad person and a terrible politician and her death doesn't erase the things she did. The public bought the song and if it charts it needs to be played. Simple as that, that's how charts work.
