Social Bakers puts the 'As Long As You Love Me' singer's true follower count at around 17.8 million, while Lady Gaga's 'actual' follower count comes to 19 million, compared to her real count of almost 36 million.

The new report also names artists including Katy Perry, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake as some of the most genuinely followed people on Twitter.

I would assume it has something to do with the popularity of Bieber's name.
If you tweet his name in full, you either get spam in your mentions or lots of fake followers.

Either way, the celeb shouldn't be accused of buying followers - I never have and look at my %.
