TAYLOR SWIFT! And it's not even close!
Taylor has more words, more way of saying things, she doesn't swear, she NEVER repeats herself, every song has different lyrics..

Avril expresses herself in a totally different way and it doesn't always revolve around the same topics unlike Taylor. On certain tracks she's more grown up but at the same time her sound still remains immature for her age.

Avril talks about breakup love as much as Taylor, maybe even more!
Avril doesn't have in her catalogue songs about her band/team/fans, her mother, 09/11, life in general, bullism, alimentary disorder, missing friends, friendhips, career ambitions...

Maybe in her officially released albums she talks more about relationship but she is just as diverse as others if you see her whole catalogue. And she delivers her feelings better and her lyrics are more powerful, because from her songs, you get more pictures about what happened and feel them better.

Avril. She's an amazing writer.
Taylor, I enjoy her songs but I still can't believe she's still writing teeny bopper songs. Safe and Sound was in the right direction, what happened Tay???

Taylor Swift has never explored the depths that Avril has in her music. They may have both written about relationships, but Avril subverted a lot of people's expectations, especially for when she was a young star. Remember that Avril was initially branded as the anti-pop star. Part of her appeal was that her songs were raw. She wrote about life. There was so much angst and aggression and it was an outlet of youthful expression. Not saying that Taylor doesn't write about real experiences, but the way it's constructed is almost like a fairytale. It's not as authentic.

Just because some of her songs have fairytale references doesn't mean they aren't real!
What about All Too Well?? State Of Grace? Sad Beautiful Tragic? Last Kiss? Back To December? MINE? The Story Of Us?
Or you only think about Love Story, Fearless, White Horse?
Avril was angry, Taylor wasn't/isn't.. That's make Avrl more a great songwriter than Taylor?
Compare Forgotten to Last Kiss, written at the same age.. You'll notice an enourmous difference!
Avril could be more raw, but she can deliver a lyric with a start and ending.. Don't you ever notice the big difference between Let Go lyrics and UMS ones?
