You really can't make any assumptions about what influenced this child though. It may have just been a natural curiosity with the object, he may never have seen a gun at all in the media. Regardless, I agree completely that this gun should not have been anywhere that a child can access.

I agree on the desensitized part, but I don't think it plays a factor in kids actually shooting people. I grew up playing video games and such and even my favorite video game ever is gory (God of War Series). However, im not going to pick up the gun and shoot anyone (unless they were doing harm to me and my family).

Little kids have been playing with toy "weapons" for ages now. So it's not like he was f**** up for doing this, for all he knew he was "playing".

If anyone it's the parents the ones who are f***** up for leaving such item reachable to him.

I really hope his parents go to jail, poor kids. The "killer" one will feel so bad once he grows up even though he was innocent.

Agreed, and it's also up to the parents not to leave them in easy reach (if they really insist on having a gun...). It's similar to when kids choke on small toys, take medication off the counter, etc.: irresponsible parents. Personally I don't buy into "kids shoot people because they see it in video games," not in accidental cases like this. A child this young probably doesn't have any malicious intent and doesn't know what they're doing is dangerous, which is why it's essential that kids be watched and dangerous items be kept out of reach.

The parents are obviously ****ing stupid but I remember as a kid I used to be scared as hell from my father's gun like I wouldn't even go 10 feet close to the place he hid it under.
