I'll admit, when I was 16, Dragon Ball Z rocked my ****in' world, it was to the 2000s what Transformers was in the 80s. Now, and I kid you not, Fox is planning a $100-million live-action Dragon Ball Z movie to come out Summer 2009. Here's a snippet from the article:
According to The Gazette, 20th Century Fox is planning to bring the graphic novel/popular television show "Dragonball Z" to the big screen. Apparently the goal is to begin filming next year in Montreal, with the studio already budgeting over $100 million for the pic.
"Dragonball Z" was originally created by Akira Toriyama as a Japanese graphic novel known as manga. His work was eventually turned into a Japanese anime series that went on to be picked up all over the world. The story revolves around an alien sent to destroy Earth, but has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys.
Rumors about a potential film have been floating around for years and with studios hungry for franchises, this time "Dragonball Z" might become reality. Stay tuned.
I'm over DBZ but i gotta admit this looks interesting. And if 'Speed Racer' is a huge hit next year I predict Live-Action anime movies are gonna be the next thing. What do u think?
