-Porter Ranch is an affluent neighborhood in the northwest region of the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California.
-The district is largely composed of gated communities of upscale single-family detached homes, along with upscale townhomes, condos, and detached condos.
-Although now mostly comprised of the newer gated communities, the east side Porter Ranch consists of the original Porter Ranch suburban neighborhoods of late '60s to late 1980s houses (most famous for where the 1982 film Universal Studios & Steven Spielberg film E.T. the Extra-terrestrial was filmed,
-The relatively isolated area later became the site of numerous movie stars' horse ranches.
-Porter Ranch is a sub-neighborhood of 5.59 square miles, within the Los Angeles city limits. With 4,462 people per square mile, it is among the lowest densities for the city of Los Angeles, but about average for the county.
