The Navy has yet to factor in that:
1. Rihanna has been in the music industry for seven consecutive years. Her contemporaries take a year, 2, or even more off.
2. She has seven albums. Her contemporaries have about 2? And they still do better - even some like Gaga have already outsold her total, which she only has 2/3 albums.
3. The "Black Madonna" can't even sell albums, so why on earth would she be anything BUT a singles artist? Her albums are filled with substance-less fillers.
Her contemporaries, such as Bruno Mars, have more than 1/5 less singles, 5 albums short, and yet, are on the verge of out-selling Rihanna's digital total. Him, Gaga, Katy, etc. sell in bulk. All have amazing album sales - Rihanna does not. If you take away their single success, they have something to fall back on - Rihanna does not.
For the irrational arguments saying "Rihanna is the #1 (female) artist right now" is solely based off of singles, not albums or even a combination of both. She is, always was, and always will be a singles artist. There's a reason her album sales are complete ****.
There's a reason why Gaga, Katy, Bruno, and others are shooting past Rihanna. In about another year, Gaga will take Rihanna's thrown, **** all over her album sales total, and just be-rid of Rihanna. The days of the single artists are o.v.e.r.
