ehrm, brit fans has learned me since day one that BOMT sold 14 millions in US....or was it 14x platinum, and 12 millions sold?
and i really recall seeing "come on over" by shania being certified 20x platinum...itīs impossible it is 4,5 mills below in sales...also, my LOVE album NEVERMIND, had sold 10 millions already back in -99...hmm
nice tho that Christina sold 8 millions, as well as just being certified 8x platinum!
Metallica!

The album is certified 14x platinum by the RIAA, if you added the Sony BMG Club sales + the SoundScan sales, then that would be like 12 million.

well okay blackbeatxx, here's how this works. Soundscan measures actual sales but it doesn't account for cd sales that are made in BMG music clubs. the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is responsible for counting how many albums have been shipped but not necessarily sold. so the RIAA is responsible for certifying albums. Shania has sold 15.5 million according to Soundscan (which is completely accurate) but another estimated 4 million of Come on Over was sold in BMG music clubs and that's why the album is certified 20x platinum. Overall, it has sold over 19 million copies. As for Britney, well she only sold 12 million with BOMT ut she was certified platinum because that album sold really well for a long period of time and a lot of stores overestimated it's sales by ordering an excessive amount of it. So far BOMT has shipped 14 million but sold 12 million w/ 2 million still on shelves. As for Metallica, they have sold 15.5 million with their eponymous album and Alanis has sold just shy of 15 million w/ Jagged Little Pill. Personally though I think she deserves to be number 1 with that OUTSTANDING album, Metallica 2nd, and Shania 3rd but oh well. BTW, Shania and Alanis have the 2 best-selling female albums of all-time.

it's one of the biggest albums of all time, and has probably sold about 25 million-30 million since it was released.

ok bobbymfw, i get how it works now, i thought i remember everyone saying BOMT sold 14 millions, but it was 12...
I agree with that top 3 you said, timeless albums!
and i read that christinas debut sold >1 million in BMG music clubs to, which makes it almost 9,5 millions
