Just last week, Chris Brown insisted that the bad blood between him and Frank Ocean was "blown out of proportion" and that he has "respect" for the singer's music. But in an interview with Angie Martinez, Brown painted a different picture, alleging that Ocean used their brawl outside a Los Angeles recording studio to drum up "sympathy" for awards season.
Wait, what?
"There's a lot of strategies people try to use when they're up for awards. You know? It's the sympathy role," Brown said. "I don't have to go that route. I just do my music and do my thing. For [Ocean], it's whatever."
It's worth noting that Ocean had already been nominated for a whole mess of Grammys before his altercation with Brown — and that his debut album channel ORANGE was almost universally lauded as one of the best of the year. Brown has yet to achieve that kind of critical recognition, which may have something to do with why they fought in the first place.
The ever-charming Brown also addresses his spat with Drake, admitting that he doesn't ever talk about the Canadian rapper with Rihanna — he just "lays the pipe." This dude.
I listened to Channel Orange quite recently and it's not even that good. Pretty boring actually. His mixtapes were better. Maybe I should get Miguels album. Hopefully that one wont disappoint .
