He was a fundamental part of the show. I wish he would make a permanent return, because the US show just doesn't work anyway. I'm pretty sure the UK would embrace him again. There is still potential for it to recover, unlike the American series.
2010 was a HUGE series. Probably one of the most iconic series of The X Factor ever. All the elements were there: judges, interesting contestants and controversy. It was juicy and got people talking. 2011 was somewhat boring. 2012 on the other hand showed a slight return to form. Nicole spiced the judging panel up, Rylan Clark became one of the biggest laughing stocks in the show's history and Christopher Maloney was the almighty public enemy.
