This thread is a kind of response for simillar threads, such as Why'd it flop etc. We are going to discuss songs that were suppose to be at some point singles or just the ones who could've been. There are always wasted hits, potential smashes, which just never had a chance.

Would this song smash?

First song is Breathe on me from 4th Britney's album In the Zone.

Breath on Me was supposed to be 5th single from In THe Zone and close the era. It never happened because o Britney's knee's injury and cancelled tour.

So the question is... Do you think it would've smash? Where it would've peak?

Would have smashed hard in Europe, not sure about the US, it was kind of very avantgarde

That's exactly what I'm thinking... It's much better than Outrageous, it would have bigger success. It would've peak in top 40 in US, Top 3, maybe even no. 1 in UK.

Honestly, I think I Got That Boom Boom or Showdown would smash harder.

But if it was to chart maybe top ten?

I dont think it would be a huge hit specially because it would be the 5th song from the album but I think it would have been a moderate hit

I think it could've gone top 20, considering "Everytime" went to #15. I wonder how big a hit "Outrageous" would've been had it been fully promoted (It reached #79 with no music video, no big performances, no promo from being the Catwoman theme, and no proper physical/radio release).

God, I wish the whole knee injury never happened. She was so at her peak during the In The Zone era, and she actually seemed very excited. Imagine if we had gotten The Original Doll like planned.

Thanks for the suggestions. Glam is actually next in the line. Speaking of Katy, I was thinking of Peacock later on, and GaGa, yeah definitely Monster

Probably a Top 50 hit in the US, at best.

SMASH all over Europe, though, and I'd be SO here for that.

From what I know label wanted Boom Boom as a 1st! single but Britney didn't want that, so they agreed on MATM, after adding Madonna vocals. Then again... label wanted BB as a 2nd single but Britney was literally fighting for Toxic. After that, they went with Everytime over Shadow for a 3rd single because they wanted ballad. 4th single... it was again betweem BB and Outrageous, but they HAD to go with Outrageous because they signed contract with R Kelly, it had to be a single. 5th single was suppose to be Breath on Me, then supposly Boom Boom as a 6th but I'm not sure.

In Europe I can see many Top 5 and Top 10 positions and although it's a better song than Outrageous it would chart below it in US
