In your post, though, you mentioned that EDM basically gives the producer a chance to shine rather than the actual artist. What's so wrong about that? Producers should be credited as much as the singer if a song blows up around the world.

Thank you.
I can't believe a thread like this even exists. Free speech, differing opinions, but so shocking.

Love EDM, one of my favourite genres.
And EDM didn't kill music, don't be ridiculous, manufactured artists, obsessive sales hunger, lack of innovation in the physical format and artist-label compromises sort of damaged a lot the mainstream.
But music is still alive as ever. Give me a break!

Some of it can be overkill, but I like it for the most part.

I'm sure you have dragged one of those successful acts (I mean, these 3 and beyond) as well, and it's mostly a matter of opinion. So, stop calling people ignorant just because he dislikes a genre your fave succeeds in.

It's not because my fave is successful in this genre, it's because it's not healthy to "hate" a musical genre. And I've dragged Katy not because of her success: I've intervened when her stans make their wonderful assumptions (as to unscrupulously compare her to Michael Jackson).
It's a matter of taste, but I don't go around saying acoustic music has damaged the current state of music because it's basic and devoid of any technicalities.

The OP honestly made me laugh because of how stupid and ignorant it was. This is the age of EDM. It is personally my absolute favorite genre. It is so interesting how diverse it is. Each artist has such a distinct sound and when you go to a festival and hear them all together, you can't help but feel complete euphoria. For many, the genre has an effect on people that any other genre of music doesnt have. Too bad you're missing out.

I love electronic dance music but the whole EDM term is kinda stupid. There's so many types of electronic and dance music out there but I feel like people refer to only Progressive House/Electro House as EDM

My position stands. EDM is shallow, repetitive, immature, doesn't play to talent, and is worst of all corny. Honestly it sounds like silly arcade music.

That's a little drastic. There are genres of music I do not like but I can express my opinion without trashing the music and the fans.

Similar to disco; it's a genre that's less about the artist and more about the producer. Seems like anybody plucked off the street can make it, despite how little talent they might have, because it doesn't focus on talent -- just an obnoxious tempo/beat/syths. But what's sad is that more talented artists who built their career on music with more substance and style have been reduced to having to jump on board with it, and subsequently dumbing themselves.
Seriously, is anyone else ready for this ultra vapid EDM phase to finally die?

OMG, I love you!!! Someone called out DISCO, the beginning of the end for music!
