I'm going to the UK from LA and I was wondering if Virgin Atlantic flights have Wifi available for purchase on the flight nowadays.

Yes Virgin always has wifi. Well every Virgin America plane does so that one should too. It's $9.99 per flight.

but this is an international flight, you don't think going over the ocean has a difference?

Oh. Never mind then they probably don't have it yet since they need a land base. But Virgin's inflight entertainment is always good though.

I travelled between Sydney and Los Angeles via Virgin Australia in 2011, and they had no Wi-Fi then.
On the other hand, I had Wi-Fi on a flight between New York and San Francisco on American Airlines.

I don't think Wi-fi is avaliable on any trans-atlantic flights yet. But I could be wrong. Best bet is to ask the airline itself.

I don't think so, usually the wifi is supported by a land base carrier, and of course they don't have that on the ocean yet. So no they most likely don't. You should look it up to see if your airline has it.

I think inner-American flights are the only ones with wifi. We don't even have it in Europe and it would be difficult to have wifi above the ocean.

All I know is I never had free wi-fi on any of my flights but that shouldnt surprise anyone.

There's wi-fi on some flights on Air Canada too. But I'm not sure which routes its offered on.
