The ignorance in this thread
Whether something is a hit or not is subject to many different factors. Including the label, promotion, artist etc.
If somebody on an indie label sold 1m+ it would be considered a huge hit for them, whereas if a Disney girl sold that it would just be considered below average. And if you want to start talking about album sales, the Disney girls actually have better Singles:Albums ratio's than the pop girls, due to the fact that they don't have massive hits but still sell decently. For example Nicki Minaj's last album sold similarly to Selena's despite having a Huge single like Starships and 4 more singles than Selena. And I know Nicki isn't exactly a pop girl but that's just a comparison so..
