Let me introduce the top 2 by saying that there is only a .3 point difference between them. If #2 had gotten .3 points more, or if #1 had gotten .3 points less, the results would be switched.
Breathe
9.000 "I Can Feel The Magic Floating In The Air
Being With You Gets Me That Way"
"Breathe" is one of only 2 songs in this rate to average 9 or higher. Taylor fans, you're welcome to thank Great Username for being the only participant to score "Breathe" lower than an 8. "Breathe" was an enormous hit for Faith, spending 53 weeks on the Hot 100, 6 weeks at #1 on Country, 17 weeks at #1 on Adult Contemporary and 1 week at #1 on Adult Top 40. The song was named Billboard's #1 single of 2000 on their year-end charts, making it one of only three songs to top the year-end chart without reaching the top of the Hot 100. The song won two country field Grammy Awards, and was also nominated for Song of the Year. The song's sensual and sultry music video caused minor controversy due to its strong sexuality, but CMT ranked the video at #4 on their list of all-time greats. "Breathe" is a love song that will go down as one of the best in country-crossover.
State of Grace
9.017 "This Is The Golden Age Of Something Good And Right And Real"
"State of Grace" was set to finish in second place until evan93 shot "Not Ready To Make Nice" out of the #1 position. "State of Grace" is the opening track of the RED album and the RED Tour, and it was written about imagining various possibilities of what the future might have in store for you as you fall in love with someone. The song was widely lauded by critics, drawing comparisons to U2, praising Taylor for how "brutally effective" the song is and identifying it as "a game-changer" for her. The song served as the final promotional single from RED, debuted at lucky #13 on the Hot 100, and was an instant crowd-pleaser for both new and old fans. It seems somewhat unlikely that "State of Grace" will serve as an official single in the future, but nothing would make me happier. Congrats to the several of you who correctly predicted this would win, and medoner, who correctly predicted the entire top 3. Thanks to thediscomonkey for supplying graphics, and thanks to everyone who participated in this rate, I've had a lot of fun with it!
Now go listen to the alternative pop-rock anthem of our generation.
When your fave can only win a rate by you sabotaging all of the superior songs Sorry for you
(only @ the one being a 5 year old because the other Taylor fans actually played with a serious mindset)
ANGER. All songs were given the score they deserve. Just so happens everybody else has awful taste so most of my high scores for Miranda/Dixie/Carrie were eliminated early and we were left with trash like 'Breathe'. Looks like you're being the 5 year old crying about the scores that don't align directly with your own literally every day, kind of time to get over it.
Looks like you're being the 5 year old crying about the scores that don't align directly with your own literally every day
That's the point of a rate Not sabotaging everything that will block what your fixed mindset wants to win
But regardless, I'm glad Faith made it this far. And Breathe is still a Billboard Year End #1, unlike others here
