It has little to do with what you believe or who you stan for, people are assholes online because they simply can be.

But it's completely the wrong way to promote atheism. Being an atheist does not mean you have to slander Christians and other religions all the time. It just creates a bad reputation for them

Partly the reason actually I've seen this hatred for religion for a while, but never really bothered to question it until recently.

Most of them are teen boys who turned atheist only to piss their folks off. All the actual knowledge of Bible they get from other trolls. And they probably still go to church every Sunday because their mothers may slap their asses if they don't.

I think you'd find most discussions of faith on the internet as... passionate as you've seen with atheists and their arguments.

Atheists are just as pessimistic and close-minded as Christians/other religious people are. When I say this, it's not meant for every individual of course, but as a group, they are equal when it comes to ignorance and intolerance.

And also, all the internet atheists aren't secluded into reddit also; they're in various places on the internet, so don't blame it on one site.

So if the other is just as bad, it makes it okay?

I have gotten myself into a series of debates by some atheists in a local website and those encounters have gotten me so exasparated that I've never been in my entire cyber life and that made me swear never to login to that website ever again. They would take every chance to attack all religions whenever they see the opportunity and oftentimes it would lead to personal insults. They have no tolerance for any beliefs other than science. They even make false claims that science has already debunked god's existence and the validity of the bible, and that psychology explains that belief in god is only because of man's fear of death. They have no respect for anything you consider sacred. They love bragging about their intelligence and superiority and in contrast calling all people who believe in god ignorant and delusional. They're fond of using ostentatious words to intimidate their opponents on a debate and make a false impression of how highly educated and rational they are. They are such bullies. I can't stand them. They're the most annoying and despicable people I've ever come across in the internet I'm not generalizing all atheists, though, as there are some atheists that I've also gotten into a discussion in the past who seemed to be respectful and tolerant of others' beliefs.

I'm gonna be honest it bothers me that gay people would want to be part of a group that doesn't like them and if you're gonna respond with a "not all christians hate gay people blah blah blah"... it doesn't matter cause I think Deuteronomy is pretty clear

Whether its real life or on the Internet, you're always gonna get extremists on either side. But I do agree that it's the Internet so people sort of have more freedom to express themselves without consequences.
