Urban US radio doesn't care for radio edits (you probably know this), from what I've heard in my time listening to Urban.

I guess it depends on how the 3rd album does. If there are no multiplatinum singles and the album sales are anemic (lest we forget TRU was and still is a colossal flop), I highly doubt she'll do more of the same with LP4.

A lot of the time rappers record two versions of a track. Even Iggy Azalea has a rather decent radio edit of Work, and she's pretty foul-mouthed.

Nicki does radio edits too - but from TRU, we only have radio edits for Hell Yeah and I'm Legit, the latter of which did replace lyrics.

Or the next album can sell 720K like PFRR (without TRU) in the US (which is a dramatic decrease in comparison to the 1.8M Pink Friday sold), and have zero Grammy nominations like PFRR

I have never heard a radio edit from Nicki in the US except for PTA.

I've heard the CLEAN version of the song, but whether it be Top 40 or Urban radio it's been the same song

Like I said maybe they put more emphasis on that in the UK.

Often labels just mute out curse words or questionable lyrics, but more often than not, the artist replaces bits of the song with radio-friendly language.

A radio edit and clean version aren't necessarily the same thing because most of the time they're just playing the clean version that's available on iTunes from the get go.

A radio edit (to me) is when the specifically edited for radio. Like PTA had this extra breakdown that added 30 seconds to the song and that was always on the radio.
