I haven't forgotten, I don't think many others have either. Everyone loves and remembers Complicated for sure. Let Go is literally my favorite album of all time. Summary of my childhood. I get so many happy feelings when I listen to it. And my friend got me the Japanese deluxe edition for my birthday last year. This album will live on forever through me.
Simple. Because the kids in ATRL were like two years old at that time and their minds weren't open that much to an iconic masterpiece, and they are ignorant about that today.

I remember that era really well, avril was HUGE that year. "Complicated" still gets play and is still remembered till this day, maybe a lot of ppl forgot the era due to a lot of members on here being younger. Also adding to the fact that Avril after this era didn't become a HUGE household name according to this websites standards etc...
Most people forget it because they were extremely young at the time. A lot of people on this website are 15-17 so they were only 5-7 when this was released and listening to Barney All they know of Avril really is Goodbye Lullaby because that's when they became aware of who she was. Avril was ****ting her first 3 eras though, it's not like she had one successful album and that was it. She was doing really good there and got her biggest hit Girlfriend from her third album.
its funny how dated the fashion was back then, for someone that lived in the era, everything seemed so ordinary back then, but now I look at the videos and its like I have entered a time machine
bitch was ontop in 2002, no doubt, but its an era as a whole thats somewhat been forgotten, like Ashanti and Ja Rule/ 50 Cent and Simple Plan ect.
I know right a lot of the fashion/videos/performances from 2000- at least 2005 seem so 90's. LOL

I disagree with Breakaway that era and Let Go were equally huge if not tipped in the favor of kelly. But then again I can only speak for the U.S. not worldwide
Onto Britney... There's totally no arguing for my side, because she was just a force. The definition of the princess of pop. However, all she did was ride on the bubblegum pop sound with Oops!... and (most of) Britney. What Avril did with Let Go was influence an entire image and sound. Why do you think she had a ton of female teenage fans who looked up to her and why do you think Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway smashed so hard?
I loved Avril up until The Best Damn Thing (I still bop to some of her new stuff though) and I agree that Let Go was a massive era and Complicated/Sk8er Boi will stand the test of time, but let's not give her too much. Avril didn't influence anything. She was constructed and marketed as the anti-Britney and her "female teenage fans who looked up to her" were the ones who were depressed and emo and felt insecure when they watched Britney and Christina in their halter tops getting guys wet and jumped and cheered at Avril's averageness and man clothes. It was nothing more than brilliant counter-marketing.
P!nk was a much more effective tomboy, IMO and she beat Avril to the pop rock punch months earlier with Missundaztood (Get The Party Started, Don't Let Me Get Me, etc etc) and it's like Avril got her watered down teen angst leftovers.
But that's just IMO. I think we all experienced artists differently. It depended on what you were exposed to.
