How long did it take before you felt a part of ATRL?
ATRL is constantly busy. There's hundreds of active members and some members have been here for many years. So I was wondering, when you registered on ATRL how long did it take for you to feel like you were truly a part of the ATRL community? Was it immediate? Did it take a week? Or a month? I'm curious.
I had been lurking on the site for almost two years from late 2010 to late 2012 before I finally decided to become a member. I was trying to see if I could assimiliate into and accustom myself to the ATRL community; I learned what shade was, about the different stanbases, the warning points/ban system, the smilies/gifs...but even after that, I was unsure as to whether or not I would fit in here.
But so far, I have been standing out for the most part, rather than fitting in. Despite how many people say "I luv your avi," "you're iconic,"or "you're so well-spoken/funny/friendly," I still feel somewhat disjointed from ATRL itself a lot of the time.
But I would certainly say that I've started to feel more apart since about 2 months ago. I think that might be around the same time when I finally got used to the lingo.
A couple of months. When I joined, I lived in YTT until Kworb invited me to the AIM chats (remember this was 2003) and I started making friends with everyone
although i've been a member since January 2011, I've felt only really belonging to ATRL in September 2012 when joining ATRL's Next Top Member, and really got active in that community
