Why is Let Go constantly forgetten about on the ATRL forums. Any thread listing favorite albums of the 2000's, favorite singles of the 2000's, etc, the album and the three iconic singles are completely forgotten about.


You can bash Avril now all you want, but the SECOND someone puts on the singles from Let Go, a whole stream of nostalgia comes across every now 18-24 year old. Avril was everyone's childhood.

The singles are pretty strong, but why are they shaded on the forums. Everyone praises the old Pink, Kelly, and even Michelle Branch singles, but Avril's three solid singles, and even the whole album, are never mentioned.

She's not Beyonce, Gaga, Britney or Rihanna.

It's a really good album. Definitely better than Pink and Kelly's debuts.
But Avril tends to fall by the wayside in general on here, doesn't she?

The flawless losing grip speaks otherwise to the first three singles

You clearly don't remember when Avril was the "it" pop girl in 2002. She may not be relevant anymore, but I can't stand it when members discredit her past achievements because her latest material is only doing moderately well.

On a side note, I keep forgetting Avril's first era is only remembered by those who are 18 and over. Most ATRL members are under 18. Man I'm feeling old. It's been 11 years

Same with Evanescence. Fallen is quite forgotten here, performing quite similarly to Let Go: ~7m in US

Everyone also says that Avril is a flop these days, but Goodbye Lullaby sold a similar amount to Femme Fatale without any big worldwide hits, so don't even try it. She's almost like an underdog. Everyone says she faded, but she can still sell decently. Her next album will hopefully make her a bigger force again though.

Those three singles are indeed iconic and I believe they will be popular classics of the 2000s. I've read "Sk8er Boi" referred to as "her classic single". I'm With You is also one of the biggest ballads of that decade WW even if the chart positions don't reflect it, it's a timeless song.

Well, the same with Avril 10 years before, only 14 years old with no musical expirience listened to Avril and they moved on.

I definitely remember but I meant that an artists relevance on ATRL depends on how big their stanbase is.

We're talking about her first album. If ATRL existed in 2002, the fanbase would be massive. You're discrediting her past achievements by looking at relevancy ten years later! I'll admit as a fan, it was due to her last two albums which alienated her fanbase, but you can't deny the impact of Let Go!

Lies, ATRL is not at all a representation of the public, otherwise Ciara and Keri Hilson who constantly get hit threads would be successful in the real world (no shade).

Those three songs are embedded in the public consciousness.

Yet they remember albums way older than it.

The last 20 seconds of "Fall To Pieces" alone slays many carreers tbh. I know it isn't from her first era but still.

No need to be so condenscending Some people, like myself, still like a lot of the music they liked as a 10-15 year old, while still moving on to other things that they wouldn't have enjoyed at that time. Like Bjork said, saying you shouldn't enjoy certain type of music based on your age because it's "beneath you" somehow is like saying you should only eat filet mignon because eating a banana is stupid. Sometimes you just want something simple and easy that's still tasty.
