Nowhere. Seeing a vocal tutor isn't going to make you have a nice voice. You'll have the technical skills, but without a decent sounding voice, what does that even count for?
I'd consider Rihanna a decent singer, but I wouldn't call her a vocal genius. Madonna neither. But continue with your lessons, almost every singer has taken them, otherwise they wouldn't be as good as they are right now. Although outstanding vocalists already have a good amount of talent, they only became as brilliant as they are with years of singing lessons.
It really depends on the voice though. Some people just aren't meant to be singers, so I'd say there has to be a stable basis to start from.
Definitely done wonders for Rihanna. Of course her voice matured but her technique has gotten so much better ( although she has alot to learn) From "Hero" to now is astonishing.
To sing like Rihanna and Madonna? You should see results now though.
I'm classical trained, why? Because I think classical vocal lessons learn best how to use your voice, right breath support etc.
As a classical singer you'll be able to sing more in resonance and it's known that opera singers don't need a mic to sing, so you learn how to sing with volume. I don't sing classical songs though, I just use the technique to sing the songs I want.
6 weeks is too early actually, unless you want to be an artist like Rihanna or something. You'll see you'll get better week by week. Take 6 months (each week 1 lesson).
Tip: don't get frustrated when something isn't going right. Vocal lessons is with ups and downs when finding your own voice.
- no shade detected.
Not true, sis. Opera houses are specifically designed to carry their voices as far as it could go so the singers won't need microphones.
And some people have a natural gift in terms of tone and ear.
I'm having singing classes for 2 years now and i still feel i have a lot to evolve. But it's also because i want to be a theatre musical singer! And that is more demanding than being a pop/rock singer.
You have a lot of details to work, and once per week is not that much. You have the theory, you have the breathing, you have the vocal extension, you have the pitch, you have the memorization, you have the tone, you have the muscles thing, you have the metric, you have the words, you have the ear training.
Vocal lessons can help enhance the voice you already have, but it can't do miracles
It can help you achieve your maximum range, it can help with technical parts of singing (breathing control, diaphragm use etc.), and it can even help you have a better singing ear.
I've been seeing a vocal coach for 6 weeks and I got a little better. She says it may take a year to get to where I want to be. How far can vocal lessons take you? I probably won't be a vocal genius like Rihanna and madonna but I want to be a decent singer since I want to do alot of dance music and electro stuff.
You guys say they teach you breathing? My coach only goes through scales.
you should ask them about breath support and see what they say.
or if you need some training with breath support go on youtube and search "eric arceneaux breath support"
hes a voice teacher who has free voice lessons on youtube and his breath support videos were helpful to me. the last teacher I had didn't teach me how to breath properly but I only went like 4 months
