Biracial means one parent is an entirely different race.

They are mixed down the line, but overall they are Black.

girl BYE. There are TONS of White Americans w/ Black admixture, do they have to claim Black now? here in the states "black" doesn't mean you're 100% black. It's an ethnic group. it's our identity. If you share the culture, you're BLACK. if you don't then you aren't. TO ME when a person constantly plays up their racial diversity it's a kin to them saying they don't identify w/ the culture. Black Americans have a SHARED history. That's what makes us Unique. like most people, we're a composite of MANY people. calm this superiority talk DOWN.

IDK what you are getting at. I just know she isn't African America in the common sense of the term. She is a White South African lady. NO ONE I know says Latin American. Most people prefer to be called by their country of origin. Using latino is offensive to most. there is a very big difference between a Venezuelan and a Columbian.

Why is self identifying with one race and culture being "robbed" of ancestry when they're not choosing to do so?

People have different experiences and reasonings for why they choose to identify and simply boiling down everyone's perspective on that to antiquated one drop rules is is grossly oversimplifying, ignorant and incredibly presumptuous.

The only family and personal history I know is Black, the culture I was raised in is Black and that's why I identify as such -- not just because if it was 1813, I would be picking cotton.

Everyone has a different definition of African-American. I understand the difference between race and ethnicity, yes. But I personally define African American as a Black person descending from American slaves, regardless of current national citizenship. I would not call a White woman from Africa with U.S. citizenship 'African-American'.

That's just me though.

I had always believed that Nicki's father was fully Indian, rather than half Indian. I am aware that there are Blacks, White, Asians and Native Americans in Caribbean countries. I know that Trinidadians are mostly Blacks and Indians. By 'Indo-Trinidadian', I meant a member of the Indian population present in Trinidad. But thank you for informing me, person who did that.

And in that case, none of them are really 'biracial' then. They are all Black as the next Black person, since all western Blacks have some European and Native lineage, albeit negligible.

I think you need to look up the word. If one of your Trini parents is of South Asian descent and the other is of sub-Saharan African descent, how is that not "biracial"? Anyway, Nicki probably has European blood too so she's multiracial just like Rihanna and Beyonce are.

What's an "East Indian"? Nicki's paternal grandfather is Indo-Trinidadian, not her grandmother, hence the Hindu surname Maraj.
