Well he's not different than the other Popes. The need to add "sexist and homophobic" makes it sound like the former Popes were supporter of homosexuality and equality between sexes.
The previous two weren't vocal about it though.

Anyways, yes it is possible for Christians to also be part of the gay community and if you've been to a church in the last 2 decades you'd realize they don't support the sexist ideas or else most of the female population would be atheist or of a different faith/belief/ idea etc. And I'm an Evangelistic Christian... We don't use the Pope AT ALL. The Catholic church has always been so backwards for hundreds of years and have done so many horrible things its the reason the orthodox church separated themselves and also the reason why most people have used the word "Christian" to identify themselves as being away from the Catholic church.
I tend to think that Christian churches are more "modernized" so to speak than Catholic churches because there have been more and more out christians that are being accepted and also becoming local pastors like some have mentioned.
Having a black Pope won't make a difference the Vatican is corrupt as ****.
BTW I am not insinuating that the Catholic churches mistakes and short comings are a representation of all Catholics. I don't want to offend anyone.
