First of all, emoting is something that every singer can do with the right song. And second, you need to be able to do both to be a great vocalist.

An impressive vocalist is expressive. See Mariah. Not only did she have technical skill, but she incorperated many different dynamics to the way she sung. But truth be told, "emotion" is complety subjective. So no.

This is true. Often times, it's the singers who arent the best technically that can capture emotion better. Like Mary J. Blige for instance. She is so raw and sincere when she is singing. I think there are moments where Rihanna captures emotion well and can sound heartfelt like on the songs Fire Bomb, California King Bed, Love the Way You Lie, Stay, Farewell
