No she doesn't. Not once has Mariah. I can't remember one time Mariah has given someone a critique, as in what is wrong with their technique and how they can improve it. I love Mariah, but she really just repeats what Randy says (the majority of her critiques even start off with something like "I'm going to have to agree with Randy"). And if the contestant is bad, then she'll spend the majority of her say discussing one of the contestant's previous performances that she liked just to avoid giving the honest, harsh truth.

Not that that's a bad thing, but I'm just sayin. Mariah is the definition of an equivocator.

I think what they mean is that she tries to analyze the performance from a singer/songwriter perspective. She's always pointing out how she liked a random vocal phrasing, alternating registers etc. She tries to find something good in every performance no matter how minor, which isn't something I necessarily agree with as you can't save every performance, but I don't fault her.
