Since the 28th, I've released the ninth episode of
Ike Bart Is House. I play the song "Emerald Sword" by Rhapsody, a popular song on Stepmania. I start that song before I'm finished introducing it, but it doesn't matter too much because I don't talk over the first verse. I also play a bunch of song from the 2005 and 2006 ATRL/Popfusion song contests and some background music that generally doesn't have much to do with tne next song.
On Saturday the 3rd, I got a haircut and put the finishing touches on Ike Bart Is House Episode 9.
On Sunday the 4th, I went to church, and stayed after the service for a planned lunch. During the time people hold Sunday School, I read a book called
Freakonomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. After I got home, I read more of the book and took a long nap before Dad woke me up around 4:30 PM. He needed someone to move his gigantic ceramic creations over to the kiln. When Dad isn't teaching at the university, he's making works of ceramic art for the Advanced Ceramics class. I also helped him load some small glazed pieces of ceramic into boxes. The gigantic sculpture he's working on is some kind of tree. It's in two pieces. The upper piece was so tall that Dad had to insert its top into the chimney of a gas kiln in order to fire it. The bottom piece had four fins at the base that are supposed to be roots. Three of the fins broke off as Dad moved it into position in the kiln. While I wasn't busy helping dad, I finished
Freakonomics.
After the business at the ceramics building at the University of Akron, I went home and ate dinner. I started reading another science fiction novel before taking a nap. After the nap, I played DDR and scored some new high scores on difficult songs, but not the "The Other Side" by Paul Van Dyk. I'm one or two Perfects away from a AA score on the Expert level of that song. I still have trouble with the triple taps in the eighth-note streams. I think it's a combination of performance anxiety and lack of practice at DDR in the past two days that prevents me from scoring a AA on that song. I plan to play some DDR on Monday the 5th after I sleep.
Also since the 28th, I played around in Buzz Tracker and made a short demo song featuring snare rushes using different drum samples and a bassline using an effect called "Harmonic Delay" and hi-hat samples played at different pitches. It wasn't the song I intended to start work on, but it is something that I could make into a 3+ minute song. The working song title for that song is "Weird Snare Rushes."
