Another understated Ecclestone wedding: After Petra's £12m bash, it's J-Lo, Lionel Richie and Hotel du Cap for Tamara and the man she just met
When Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone splashed out on his daughter Petra’s wedding, the three-day extravaganza cost him a cool £12 million.
Now it looks as if he is going to have to dig deep again – for her older sister Tamara’s no-expense spared nuptials in the South of France this summer.
Not to be outdone by her sister, Tamara’s wedding is on course to cost at least as much – as she plans to entertain her guests with performances by Jennifer Lopez, Lionel Richie and DJ to the stars Calvin Harris.
The Mail on Sunday can reveal that after a whirlwind three-month romance, 28-year-old Tamara will marry her fiance, former City stockbroker Jay Rutland, 31, in June at the world-renowned Hotel Du Cap near Antibes on the Cote D’Azur.
The five-star luxury hotel, which is set in 22 acres of private pine woodland and tropical gardens, is one of the world’s most prestigious venues with suites costing £2,000 a night, and has been the hotel of choice for dozens of A-list guests over the decades, from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to Hollywood stars including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Tamara and Jay, whose engagement was revealed by The Mail on Sunday last month, have invited 300 guests. They are expected to include Prince Andrew’s ex-wife the Duchess of York, her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie and American socialite Paris Hilton.
The party will last four days, one of which will be spent cruising the Riviera on a private super-yacht. The reception costs alone are expected to be astronomical.
In November 2012, Lopez, 43, reportedly asked for £2.1 million to perform a 40-minute set for
Russian oligarch Alexander Yelkin. It included a £1.3 million fee plus £800,000 of travel expenses for the star and her entourage.
The event was cancelled, but Lopez was paid half up front.
When Richie, 64, performed 15 songs at a party for Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green at The Dorchester in 2009, his fee was £1 million.
Scottish DJ Harris, who has worked with a range of artists including Kylie Minogue and Rihanna, charges upwards of £320,000 for a private appearance. Tamara, who split from businessman Omar Khyami last August and began dating Mr Rutland in January, is believed to be in discussion with agents
