If Adele had been around when Britney debuted and filled the same void in the music industry as she did recently, she would have outsold Britney at an embarrassing rate. We would be wondering why can't people sell like Adele today, Britney's album sales would have paled in comparison even though they look impressive now.

But Britney stans clinging to her early album sales like albums still sell like that today are really really reaching.
