Joe was real on Taylor's side, no real heart involvement on Joe's side. Plus she started getting bigger than him and was taller than him, so he felt inadequate.
Lautner was more of a prestige/friendship thing, and once again she was taller than him so he would never appear publicly with her side-by-side. She dropped him as soon as JM started after her when Katy Perry took Russel instead of JM back then and that was the start of huge change in Taylor.
JM, much as I hate to say it=biggest involvement heartwise and persona, it altered her in all kinda ways.
Jake was second in emotional involvement, but in some ways a bigger letdown. He's perceived as very nice Guy and she really thought he was in it for the long haul, but he's got a couple big issues. One-huge temper, can get very verbally mean. Others I wont mention.
Conor-could and should have worked but was sabatoged by some family members, thru the press and privately.
Harry- he admires and emulates JM in all ways he can, up to pursuing Taylor. He never cared about her really, all publicity and ego for him. On Taylor's part, she more wanted to believe it could work than ever had heart in it, and her "friend" Katy had taken up with JM who publicly cavorted and squires her, something he never did with Taylor. She wanted a high-profile romance and to seem wanted by someone every girl dreams of.
