Houston holds a rodeo every year that a ton of artists come every year for. A lot of them do it as a precursor to their tour. Like Beyoncé performed in front of 73k people back in 2006 as the precursor/practice show to the Beyoncé experience.
My baby getting the country fans' love and beating some of the biggest country stars' record, twitter went crazy for him, and he was trending.

The pop superstar’s stadium debut drew 75,175 fans, besting Jason Aldean’s 2012 record. Lines throughout the venue were long, and enthusiasm was high well before he rolled up to the stage in a white car.
Mars is, to put it plainly, a fantastic entertainer. He sings beautifully, is a charming dancer and was backed by a showy band, complete with horn section and their own impressive footwork. He’s an expert at playing to every person in the building. It’ll be hard for any forthcoming show to top this one.
Kickoff tunes “Moonshine” and “Natalie” had a triumphant, ’70s swagger. Mars sported flannel, shades and his trademarks fedora (a look matched by his band).
“Fellas, we made it to the Rodeo,” he said amid the cheers.
At his command, thousands of seated fans jumped to their feet for the old-school groove of “Treasure.” That’s no easy take in such a mammoth venue.
He drew out the final few lines of “Billionaire” to take in the crowd’s cheers; preceded his own “Marry You” with a few swoon-inducing lines of Robert & Johnny’s We Belong Together; and dressed up the frenetic “Runaway Baby” with some James Brown moves and a bullhorn.
He dedicated “Young Girls,” his take on a country song, to “all the little heartbreakers” and “vicious Houston women.” It was more pop than twang, despite the acoustic guitar (but so is most of country radio).
He saved all the big hits for the second-half. He channeled early Michael Jackson during a heartfelt “When I Was Your Man.” The urgent pulse of “Grenade” benefited from a grander, beefier musical framework. And recent chart-topper “Locked Out of Heaven” again brought the crowd to its feet. It also had them screaming, again, at the top of their lungs thanks to a few serious hip swivels.
“If you got a lighter, put it up! If you got a fried Twinkie, put it up” Mars yelled before serenading the stadium with “Just the Way You Are.”
“We ain’t never done anything like this before. Thank you so much,” Mars said just before hopping in the bed of a pickup truck and exiting the arena. It was all too brief, but he’ll be back Aug. 15 at Toyota Center. Minus the fried desserts.
