I had a "vision" about how the next era might play out at the start:
Mid-September, Nicki releases the first single and announces a November release date for the album. The single's sound is inline with The Boys and peaks Top 30 on iTunes, #11 on Urban and #78 on the Hot 100. No international release.
She then acts quick to follow it up with the 2nd single in October, a Moment 4 Life-style R&B-hip-pop track with Drake. It just doesn't connect to a mainstream audience, though goes Top 10 on Urban. The international labels try and release it, but the release is cancelled.
Universal Republic then issue a press note that the album has been pushed back to February 2014, "to allow for the best album possible".
"Coincidentally" at the same time, Nicki releases a new feature collaboration with the Stafford Brothers that has her singing and dancing over a familiar sound. This does well, and gets to Top 15 on the Hot 100. Nicki then begins recording again, a la two years prior.
January 2014 at the start of American Idol, Nicki decides to push out a new single, this time continuing the momentum of the Stafford Brothers track. It does extremely well, and gives Nicki another Top 5 on the Hot 100, and Top 5 worldwide. The album is pushed back again.
The album finally comes out April 2014, and is a total mishmash of sounds, but is bolstered by multiple promotions on Idol and an anthemic soft-rock 4th single, similar to Marilyn Monroe.
Sales are on-par with Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
