You guys don't really know anything about the Advertising world where songwriters are able to charge good money for just seconds of their song used and a lot of other things that represent how a song makes money, it's successful and the sort.
Today, the music we get now from labels is not intended to be free, every instance when a song is played represents its commercial success. The thing is that because you're so used to get music for free before even buying it, you take for granted how necessary those seconds of music are in your life.
Billboard is counting them,
finally I must say, you still take music for granted.
And as money is made from advertisements in those parody videos, it still counts as part of the music industry.
