Wow, good for them. And India can't be that irrelevant with its population. Hopefully legal music picks up there and they start producing real pop stars.

India got iTunes in December.. December 11th or 13th to be precise!!

and i know IMC has been out since way before but i sincerely dont think anyone buys music from Nokia Store even then... believe me! i used to have a nokia cell, and my friend's sister bought one recently and no one uses its store!! i think most of its sales came from iTunes only!!

consider me... i am probably the biggest English music fan in my country(yeah i am going to claim that spot ) and i still dont buy music legally..!! after i got iTunes in december, i only purchased Taylor's album and 6 other songs, but i dont think i will start purchasing music for every artist now!! if i do that then my parents would call me stupid and confiscate my credit card, cuz no one does that here!!

I think most music is downloaded illegally in western countries, but it's not as bad. Also, why doesn't India have pop stars? Just movie playback singers, but no real pop stars.

Yeah, I think that's the biggest problem---it's a culture issue. Here in the US, it's normal for people to spend money (whether they have disposable income or not). In India and other Asian countries, people are stingy with money (even if they have disposable income) and they like saving.

and i dont think its as much culture as the Trend .. here, purchasing music used to be a thing years ago... but with internet and free music online, the trend really changed a decade ago and since then just some people buy music legally anymore!! thatswhy i m confident the trend willchange again and iTunes will be bigger here!!
