Funny that you should bring this up. I remember hearing on NPR a few weeks ago about an all digital public library branch, in some US town. All the books were going to be replaced by tablets, and an elderly woman wrote in to voice her outrage over the concept. She's probably exactly the type of person you're talking about that probably gets by just fine without using digital appliances and prefers physical books. It's the idea of possibly being forced to change rather than choosing to change that bothers her.
Technology has many positive effects, but certain social graces have suffered because of it. You know, like hand written thank you notes, romantic dates who think texting is more romantic or preferable to actual phone calls. Technology has changed how society interacts with one another and not always for the better.
