You don't just stop responding. That's rude. It's best to be up front with people. Either say that you're sorry but you're not looking for anything, or you just want to be friends with them, or you're not interested in anything other than friendship, etc. Or just be blunt like me and just say you don't think you're compatible.

I'm awful at rejecting guys I'm not interested in. I either lie and tell them I'm seeing someone or I try to appear as uncomfortable around them as possible so they'll get the point. I don't know why I can't just tell them I'm not interested, I guess I feel bad about making them feel bad.

I don't like to stop responding, it's rude but I usually say things like I'm not looking for anything or I'm seeing someone just to lessen the force of the blow.

cut your convos, start talking to him less, say you're busy, say you'll talk to him later, do talk to him later, but ignore him the next five times he messages you, then talk to him, then ignore again. this is a subtle way to keep them leeches away.

also, you could lie and say that you're just bicurious or just going through a phase. you could say that you're straight, too.

do you know how many times men have messaged me. a simple "im a lesbian" usually pushes them away

or like the others said, just say that you're uninterested

or you could say that you are now taken

Guys rarely hit on me in real life, so I don't usually have to worry about that. Females are the ones I tend to have to avoid most of the time. It might be the reason why I have very few friends who are girls.

If I'm interested in being friends I say so, but if not I'll tell them the truth. The truth is the truth, and if you don't tell it to them they won't drop it as quickly.
