Taylor Swift has won Entertainer of the Year the last two years in a row at the Academy of Country Music Awards and returns to defend her title.
If she prevails again on April 7, this would be an unprecedented feat in the 48-year history of these kudos as no woman has ever taken this top prize three times. Currently, Swift and Carrie Underwood are tied at two apiece.
While the Academy membership determines the winners of almost all categories, Entertainer of the Year as well as New Artist are decided by fans, who can vote online starting Monday, March 25. Swift is ahead in our early predictions, with odds of 13/8 as a majority of our editors and users predict her to prevail.
However, nipping at her heels are husband-and-wife singers Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. Both are contending in this race for the second time. He is in second with odds of 3/1 while her odds of 11/2 have her in third place. If Lambert loses to Swift here, she could get her revenge in the battle for Female Vocalist of the Year. Lambert has taken that prize for three years running and is correctly forecast to make it four in a row. Swift is in second place in that race.
