These awards would be more exciting if NME was courageous enough to nominate people their readers are actually interested about, instead of self-patting themselves in the back by giving these to pop acts.
I also remember when everyone was fuming over NME calling Born This Way one of the "Top 10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever", and yet here they are getting praised for being negative towards One Direction. Never change, ATRL.
They're just easy to hate cause they're the current teen sensation. I just hope it doesn't evolve to 2010 Justin Bieber levels of hate. Thankfully they're nowhere near as bad.

Bieber has bad vocals, average dancing, average music & average looks. 1D has good vocals, no dancing, average music (Metacritic agrees) and good looks (most of them do). 1D wins! That's why they made it in the IFPI report last year.
looks is subjective and has nothing to do with music. 1D is a collective group, none of them alone can match up to the talent of bieber, and even collectively its debatable.
