He wants power couple Katy Perry, 28, and John Mayer, 35, as judges.
A source says: 'Simon sees it as a brilliant pairing.
'Katy's sassy, honest and a huge star, while John's more reserved.
'Having them as rivals would be genius - if they had on-air bust-ups, it'd be unmissable.'
Katy was a guest judge on the UK X Factor in 2010 and Si's said: 'She'd be fun because she's hard - in a good way.'
Our source adds: 'There's a $20 million deal on the table.
'Hiring Britney Spears didn't work but this would be the first time a couple appeared on a judging panel together.'
Simon needs to quit trying to make the show "happen" in America, and go assist the UK series

If she has no plans for an album this year, I'd be all for it. An easy $20 million on her year off and she gets to keep her face in the publics mind, win/win. Hopefully she'll be too busy promoting to have time to do The X Factor though...

Simon just needs to stop making the show "happen" in the US. Clearly, no one was here for it, and having an inconsistent judging panel isn't working. Heck, if you really want to make the show work, focus on the show itself, not the actual judges.
Do you really think first seasons of American Idol were popular due to the judges You need to improve the show itself, not replace judges...
I don't think Simon gets A-list artists like Katy or Adele
He only gets B-list artistis like Demi or former A-list and now B-list artists like Britney or Christina.
I know it's outdated, but some artists have class and dignity.

since when a B-list artist gets a debut #1 single and a debut #1 album with 4 top 10's from one era and then goes to be the highest paid female musician in 2012 and has the most successful single this year so far which is already surpassing singles released by "A-list" artists
