Even if this was pre-injury, I think that the whole process will only be expedited by the injury. Sure, she's going to have to recover, and that will take time, but at the same time she's no longer going to be tied up because of the tour.
In my opinion, this would be the best time for her to just sit in a chair, listen to the demos, then record what she wants to re-record.
This actually sounds like a great plan. Releasing the single in May would give Gaga three months to recover, which could work. However, I still think she will take a little more time to recover, and the single will be released in time for a VMA performance with an album release in November.
