She has already said ARTPOP will be "risky".
And if she released an 'S&S' she would loose respect, album sales, and most probably fans too.

She's made "risky" suceed before. See the Born This Way era
And Gaga's brand of genericism (Just Dance) has a lot more substance than singles like Scream & Shout.
She'll be just fine.

I don't think people denied that.
Although I don't think the #1 single is definite. The album is though, and the hit tour.

The topic is "will Gaga flop this era", so obviously not

Yes, but as I said previous, Born This Way had HUGE hype and was very heavily anticipated, as it was the follow up to her huge debut. And what happened after those six weeks? People got bored.
Is the hype really there for ARTPOP (outside of ATRL and Littlemonsters.com)?

I don't think JD would smash in 2013 though. And as I just posted...

Hype only effects first week sales really. So her first week sales may be lower but if people like the song, it gets a ton of radio play (it will), and she promotes it after it's release...it will still sell. So this hype argument is pretty irrelevant. Also there's not even a release date for the single as of yet. Obviously when there is hype will start to build.

'Flop' is relative to the artist though. I am sure Khia would be rather chuffed if her next album performed as well as Bionic.

Artpop is on every most anticipated albums list. MTV, YAHOO, ROLLING STONE, ETC.
ALSO, gaga never said it is risky. Dunno where you're getting your information but its obviously not from anywhere reliable.

Relative indeed, but according to some, Gaga flopped with a 7m+ selling album and a 180m+ grossing tour. Relative or not, that is not flopping for anyone.
So no matter what happens. People will say she flopped because they can't stand that she's so successful.

Of course not, she has yet to make a huge announcment about release dates and such. And no offense but it's hypocritical to even make that comment because as soon as she drops one tiny hint, typical predictable ATRL is going to say "she's overhyping again!"

She did say it was risky, I can't be bothered to find receipts though. Don't believe me then, see if I care.
And of course she is on the 'most anticipated albums list'. Any artist of her magnitude would automatically be put on those kinds of lists. Do you honestly believe the GP knows Gaga is releasing an album, and/or cares?

It was a huge decline from her first album though. That is why people call it a 'flop'.

Probably not. Her large fan base will buy absolutely anything she puts out.

Yes, because those lists aren't just pulled out of some editor's ass to show the biggest stars who might release.

Of course not, she's coming off three successful eras.
It's funny, she sold over 12 million singles and albums in the US alone and over 25 million WW during the BTW era. For anyone else that would be slaying, but people like to act like it was some major flop.
Whatever she releases for her lead, we all know it will shoot to the top of iTunes worldwide, it will receive major coverage in the press, and radio will spin it. Doesn't mean that all that will hold up after the first few weeks, but if the music quality is there, it will have no trouble selling. She's already indicated that ARTPOP is a lot more commercial, both in its sound and its lyrical content.

If not this era, then she will soon -- especially if she keeps announcing titles to fans A YEAR IN ADVANCE.
Pop is fast-paced. You can't act like your **** is the second coming of Christ when it comes out like 'Born This Way' did. It was cute, but worth all the hype? Debatable...
