Build em up, knock em down culture. Nobody is immune.
People root for the underdog, and Anne's win was seen a mile off. It was no surprise, by that point nobody cared and the hype irked folk enough to project smugness and overconfidence onto Anne. Whilst I felt she expected to win and clearly loved the praise, I don't think she warrants hate.
Jennifer Lawrence was a breath of fresh air in a stuffy and pretty predictable night of ego rubbing, so people responded positively and forgot about Anne who may as well have been given the award months ago.
Oh, and her shoehorned social commentary in the speech was daft.
I don't know why people hate het, but I love her. She's been one of ny favorite actresses since The Devil Wears Prada. Like with most actors/singers, I'm only interested in their work. The woman's incredibly talented. She reminds of Julia Roberts in a way.

The media will soon start to tear her down in no time.
with most stars it's because they're successful one too many times. winning everything, without a huge meltdown, break, or backlash (so they can have a comeback: see beyonce, classic example) people (or rather: the media) are unable to handle that. famous people NEED to have some sort of "breakdown", otherwise, something aint right.
however anne hathaway seems to have an annoying character threat I wasn't aware of until I read this thread..
She's pretty much as her character in 'The Devil Wears Prada', hipster-ish, humble-ish, talented girl that just won't own up to it. But I don't hate her for that, I mean she's not Drake annoying.
