Why do stans think their fave is attacked the most?

In this thread made me think. I've seen everyone from every fanbase post something similar to this. Something like,

So, gerls, why does every fanbase think that everyone is constantly hating on their fave, especially if you look in the most recent threads, you won't see any truly hateful ones?
Well outside ATRL, my fave really does get quite a lot of ****.
But I think it's because it feels just slightly more personal to someone when their fave s criticized, as opposed to when some random girl they only kind of like is criticized.
Well, there are literally many times where one's fave is randomly, unnecessarily and irrelevantly brought up in a discussion just for the sake of shading them when it doesn't pertain to the topic at all.
People really do hate on Christina 24/7 though, I mean can you deny that. And it's funny to me, because pretty much everybody else's faves get less negative comments then Xtina does yet they are the ones complaining while I'm saying nothing. Why should I care if other people don't like her. People need to realize nobody is immune to negative comments and stop getting so worked up every. single. time.

And yet we complain way less then all the other stanbases. I mean, I don't see any threads titled "Why do people hate Xtina so much?" being made weekly like other stanbases do for their fave
