Parodies are counted as long as actual audio of a song is used somewhere in the clip, whether it's the entire track, a few seconds of it (“It's Britney bitch,” for example,) or just the instrumental. They are also counting live performances.
I think only official videos should count and I don’t like the fact that streaming holds as much as weight as sales:
Streaming 35%
Sales 35%
Airplay 30%
The formula is seriously ****ed up because this is ridiculous:
HOT 100
No. 1 Harlem Shake 262,000 copies sold / 2 million audience impressions
No. 2 Thrift Shop 412,000 copies sold / 111 million audience impressions
Billboard said that "Harlem Shake" would have placed at #15 on the Hot 100 without the inclusion of YouTube streams. It's #1 only because 100 million people watched a 30-second video that includes the track and they watched it for the dance -- not for the song itself -- that has fewer than 5 million views worldwide after over 6 months.

Sigh...and here I am expecting an icon award at the BMAs...I keep forgetting Billboard screws her any chance they get...

Speaking of album sales, I really hope Britney has a Target deal next era.
